Shades of Grey

Ever stop at the traffic lights and wonder, "What's that car in front? I know the brand, but I've never heard of or seen a Caldina before."

You're not seeing things. You're probably seeing grey, as in a 'grey import vehicle’, which looks like something everyday, but isn't.

A grey import is a car, van, truck, even motorcycle, legally imported into and sold in Australia as an alternative to those sold through official channels.

They've been around for a while now and there's a big market for them as they're seen as a good value. Which they can be. But, because they're not official imports by the big name manufacturers, getting them serviced and tracking down spares can be a bit tricky, but not impossible.

When looking at cars for sale, if you like the idea of going grey for something out of the ordinary at a great price, go for it. Just keep in mind that owning an imported Toyota Vellfire is different to owning a locally available Kluger.
